AA has wide experience in industrial relations and employment law, advising on all aspects of corporate streamlining, collective bargaining, senior executives’ contracts and redundancy agreements – including defining the legal framework, analysis of negotiation issues, strategies and tactics, conduct of negotiations and document drafting. This also involves providing legal advice and handling negotiations and reorganization and individual and collective redundancy procedures.

AA has taken part in a number of recent restructuring and downsizing procedures, with agreements and collective redundancies, in the chemicals, electronics, shipping and automotive sectors, including the three largest operations of this type in Portugal in the last decade.

In connection with mergers and acquisitions and company or plant closures, the firm can boast long experience in HR streamlining, employee transfers, redundancy procedures and human resources management in general.

AA has also created a specialized employment litigation department to complement its corporate and employment services. This department is especially geared to following through companies’ needs in  litigation, and has served clients in the automotive chemicals, communications, information technology, port and electrical/electronics sectors.

Members of the firm have also held public office in this field, as representatives of the Portuguese State and employers’ organizations, and have also published articles dealing with employment law issues.
