Trainee at the law firm of José Dias Marques, from 2000 to 2003.

Lecturer at IADE – The Institute of Visual Arts, Design and Marketing, teaching International Commercial Law, during the 1999/2000 academic year.

Has been an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon since 2000, lecturing the following subjects:

  • Introduction to the Study of Law, from 2000 to 2003;
  • Private International Law, in conjunction with other subjects, from 2003 to 2015;
  • Contract Law, from 2006 to 2007;
  • Comparative Law, from 2008 to 2011;
  • Philosophy of Law, from 2009 to 2010;
  • Family and Inheritance Law, from 2011 to 2014;
  • Law of Obligations, from 2014 to 2015.

In 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 she was dispensed from academic lecturing to prepare her doctoral thesis.

Susana Maltez has worked as coordinator and teacher together with João Almeida, LLM, in Family Mediation Law, in a project created by the Ministry of Justice and financed by EU funds (POPH), in 2014.

Susana has worked as coordinator and lecturer on the subject of “Legal Nature of the UNIDROIT principles and their coordination with international commercial arbitration and the State’s rules on conflicts”, within the subject of Introduction to Private Law (I e II) of the Doctoral Program at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, directed by Professor Rui de Mascarenhas  Ataíde, in the 2014/2015 academic year.

Became Counsel at Paulo de Almeida & Associados in 2004.
